right chain tensioner upgrade

I have almost completed this upgrade, hopefully without incident. I have one question concerning the insertion of the new carrera style tensioner on the right side. I have added the spacer and tightened the tensioner, pin pulled, all appears well. My question is the tensioner pin is now squarely on the flat portion of the idler arm and there is a space between the tensioner and the spacer. Is this positioning correct? I want to make sure the tensioner should not be snug against the spacer before I close up the housing. Appreciate your response.
