Talk to me about those cool Early car hood lights!

Reading through the Treffen threads and photos I think I'd really like a set of the larger hood mounted lights. Are they Cibies?

What's required, are they Porsche only? How are they wired etc...

Cheers

You will need a lot of cash to pay for those, I have seen prices around US$1,200.00 for a pair of NOS. Everyday are harder to get.
The hood lights were used also in Citroens. The reflectors were made by Cibie and Marchal.
Demon Tweeks in England is making a fg copy at a much better price, but does not have the chrome ring, the ring is painted.
You can wire them as regular fog lights, the wires are run through a hole in the bottom of the housing.

Cheers Don

I figured they'd be mucho coin I haven't really seen any on Australian cars that I'm aware of, but I suspect if they're valuable, the guys only put them on for special occasions

I think that they do not take them off, and use them for special occasions only.
You need to drill four holes to install them.
I will take some pictures of all the parts of these lights and post later.

Well, besides a large-enough budget, a new method of supporting the hood.

The gas struts, even if operational, aren't hefty enough for the added weight.

John,
Congratulations. I think they'll work well with your new hood lights.

Would these be completely verboten on a short nose car? I'm planning on converting my SC to narrow-body 74RS bumpers this winter, but when I do I'm going to lose a mounting points for my 550 Hella driving lights. I drive often enough at night in the country that I really like having driving lights.

Anyone have any pics of these or other types of lights mounted on a shortnose RS?
