Which Brake Fluid
I have read here and there and don't really know what fluid I am supposed to use.
No track use. Weekend Car. What do I buy and how much if I want to purge the system? Help.

Use ATE Blue or Gold. For cars that sit, this fluid is not so apt to collect moisture. Plus, you can see when you have all of the old stuff out.
1 quart/pint, whatever Pelican sells is enough for a complete flush.

What's the basis for changing the fluid every two years? The Bentley manual specifies every year. Aren't more modern fluids less prone to collect moisture (which I assume is the primary reason for the need to change the fluid)?

Porsche specs 2. Yes, 4-200 is less prone to boil with moisture conc.
A prev. thread had some graphs posted if you search. Some street drivers do it every 3 yrs.; some racers do it every few races - depends on usage & environment. Can always get it tested if paranoid, but why bother - just change it.

If you want your calipers and master cylinder to last as long as possible, change that fluid annually.
![]() The vast majority of brake problems/corrosion in brake systems is due to accumulated moisture that could have been avoided with regular fluid changes.
