anyone ever install elephant ASP kit ?
 

I am having trouble installing my Elephant Racing New ASP Adjustable Spring Plate kit.Has anyone installed this before.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1177619397.jpg

I've done the WEVO version...what trouble are you having? THe threaded "nubs" that are weled onto the chassis are notiously inconsistant....if that helps.

I'd imagine you are one of the first to do this...I'd call Chuck with any issues, I'm sure he'd like to know so he can log them and react accordingly. If you haven't spoken with him, he's a great guy.

I was eyeing up that new ASP kit when I was at his shop a while back. Man that is sweet!

What is inconsistant about the "Threaded Nubs" ? size ? the spring plate wont line up to the brackets/mounts "sticking too far out"

Well, I am unfamiliar with the ASP, but one thing that happens when devices requiring more precision than the stock setup get installed is that the stock nubs become problematic.

If you think about a perfectly vertical plane, paralell with the centerline of the car, (just as a conceptual) they should all line up with it, and they should all be "normal" to it. Often they are not. The WEVO kit adresses this, IIRC, with some well controlled grinding.

Again, I am speaking about a product that i don't know, so I'm just trying to mention known issues to help out. They might or might not apply.

Call Chuck. He'll know alot more about how to solve your problems with this product than just about anyone else here.

yes, I have been discussing my problem with Chuck today,he has been very helpful (more than helpful).I think I have a bent rt trailing arm.Does anyone have a nice used or NOS one ?

All went well,I did have a bent trailing arm.5000 miles on the suspension and all is good.I cant say enough good things about Elephant,thanks Chuck !

Elephant Racing makes some great stuff and we are lucky to have them.

I have not used this system, but there was a thread some time ago about it, with some interchange between Chuck and Cary Eisenlohr, who is an expert with decades of experience. We had a PRC race car that tried it.... the owner has well-known racing roots and the shop that did the install likewise. I don't know if they really got to explore its virtues as it was declared illegal pretty quickly in the car's class and thus removed.

I spoke about it with my car's builder about this product and he described a bunch of similar approaches that he was involved with back in IMSA... my impression was that while they theoretically showed promise, they were abandoned. Still, it would be good to see some definitive results from this newish product in actual racing applications.
