911 fuel lines

Is replacing the fuel lines on a 1974 911 a do it yourself project, any special tools needed, and ant pitfalls to be aware of?
Thanks.

Just noticed this is your first post... welcome aboard. More information available here than you can possibly imagine.... sensory overload. And it is traditional (if not required) that you post a pic of your ride ASAP.....

Just did mine and the biggest problem I had was finding the 10MM ID fuel line that is the input line to the fuel pump. Pelican does not carry and had no source. I couldn't even google up a supplier on the internet. A local shop specializing in foreign autos was able to order some for me at $5 / ft which is outrageous but really no choice and only needed 2 ft.

Some of the lines are hard to access and you just have to do by feel but no real problem.

Also the crimped line that is input to the fuel accumulator is NLA so I dremmeled off the crimp and used a clamp.

I did mine last fall. I got the tubing at Napa. It was a royal pain trying to work in the front at the gas tank. Reaching your hands up behind the stearing mechanism is really hard to do. And the fuel lines are not so pliable. I managed by loosening up the end of the fule line by repeatedly pressing my needle nose pliers into the opening to stretch it out a little. I managed to get it over the existing rigid lines about 3/4 of an inch and then clamped it down. The lines at the fuel pump were not as hard to put in. Simple enough, but I had some serious hand cramps afterwards.

I replaced all of my flexible fuel lines (not the fixed lines in the tunnel) a few years ago and it was tedious and tricky, but not especially difficult. It's definitely worth the effort when you see the cracked, brittle fuel lines you will be replacing! I also replaced all of the clamps with some stainless steel clamps from McMaster-Carr. Good luck!

I just did most of my rubber flexible fuel lines after a minor blowout that left me stranded about 5 miles from home. The tough part is getting in above the transmission mounting bracket. It takes real patience and many bloody knuckles. I was able to replace the large diameter hose going from the tank to the fuel pump up front, but didn't know what to do with the other two crimped hoses. Suggestions? Thanks!
