911SC Shift knob
Hey all,
These things are remarkably scarce! I cracked the knob on my SC. I thought about replacing with a leather knob and boot combo...didin't the 930 or 930S have these from the factory in one piece? Otherwise, an OEM or repro will suffice. Any ideas where to find these anymore? Anyone ever try out a Voodoo shift knob? Popular on Miatas...pretty neat ball shift knobs in many finishes. The Piano Black one would be cool for the old 911. http://www.thompson-automotive.com/voodoo.html |
Just popped the knob off my 79 SC.. got a slight ding along the bottom which you can't see when it's installed. I love my new MOMO Anotomico knob.
Let me know if you're interested in my OEM knob... |
How bad is the crack?
Mine has a hair-line crack which made it loose on the shifter rod. It would spin around; very annoying and unsafe while shifting. I cured it with a bit of JB weld on the crack and on the top of the shifter to glue it down. Been nice and tight since... |
