73T - Rear Seat Delete - The POR-15

Firstly, if you want to follow along as to how I got here, then take a look at this thread :-

Rear Seat Delete Queries

Well I thought my new angle gringer and 60 grit wheel would help me along - WOW that thing is great :-

And this is right at the back inside the quarter panel area - no rust from leaky windows :-

I then soaked the whole area with POR Metal Ready. Used the supplied spray nozzle and a brush to keep the whole lot wet for 15 minutes. Then washed off and thoroughly dried all areas with a hair dryer ! :-

After a cup of coffee, I set to with the POR-15 in Silver. Used tape to lift the headliner ends off the shelf and to mask the chrome window trim and rear screen rubber.

One of the tins from the six pack did this much :-

And here is the completed first coat. I will cover with the RS Carpet Set, so no need to overcoat it.

You do not have to do all this to remove and refit carpet, but I know know the area is solid and will not rust - good detail for a new owner if I ever have to sell the car.

That looks so much better than black. Very nice.

I went with Silver because I like that colour, but also if I want to overcoat it with white or black, it will be easier to see any areas that I have missed
