Headers for a 3.6 swap?

I am running a '95 3.6 with the '95 factory heat exchangers on a SC with no snog requirements and am thinking about going to headers and a free flowing exhaust while still (barely) street legal. Looking for more power and less weight. Seen what Timmens offers. Any other suggestions from those who have BTDT?

B&B makes great headers for your application. The heat boxes are too small though to be effective. GHL makes a nice set. If money is no object, S-car-go.

I've been real happy with my B&Bs, but if I were doing it again, I'd give Timmins headers a close look. The 3.0 exhaust was even restrictive for the 3.0!

B&b will build the 3.6 headers with back dated heat boxes for older cars, Kevin

I have the b&b headers they seem to be ok, i didnt like the 993 heat exchangers,
ghl seems to be able to make a header and muffler combo to fit any car

kevin--what didnt you like about the 993 headers?

More power and less weight? For a quality product I think George's European headers are your best alternative (I have not BTDT, though).

Hi:

We've had excellent success using George's headers with our race muffler setup on engines like yours. Its usually worth 16-18 HP and if the headers are properly coated (inside & out), they are quite durable.

Steve--what is the 16-18hp compared to--a stock setup or another header B&B or the like? Does Georges make a header with heatbox?

I am running Steve Timmon's headers with heat boxes put on around them. I think they are the best out there unless you have a track only car. Heck even if you do, they are really good. I'd suggest anyone with a 3.6 that wants to have performance and heat check them out. Best thing is that with the right muffler set up there is no resonance.

Hi Jon:

Those HP gains were based on 993 HE's and mufflers.

We also use a special, proprietary GHL header/HE setup made to accept factory-type mufflers.

George only makes headers; no heaterboxes.

I've used B&B w/ 964 heat tube and Flowmaster for years, it works fine but once again w/o using cams that are more agresssive than SS or RS you won't get any gain over the stock 993 exhaust. The B&B is easier to plumb the muffler to though.
