Help with Tires

Hi,

All this talk on here about old tires has got me thinking maybe it is time I get a new set. I've had the car 5 years and it still has the same tires on it that show wear on the inside tread (yes an alignment is in order). No visible cracks and not sure how long they were on the car before I got it.

Here's what I know. Strictly a weekend warm weather car, maybe 2K a year and will maybe do 2 autocrosses a year.

What is has now are (bear with me, not sure what is relevant):
Bridgestown Potenza's
Rear: 225/50ZR15
Front: 205/50ZR15

Any suggestions, estimate on prices?

Thanks,

David

Go check out 'Tirerack.com' on the net. There's plenty to choose from, w/ prices and tire comparisons...

I bought my Michelin pilot sport tires from tire rack and had them drop shipped to the shop that does my service. Very pleased with the Michelins.

I have a tire guy that I have been bying tires from for years. He sells Bridgestone, Michelin. He turned me onto a tire labeled 'Fuzion'. They are made by Bridgestone and look exactly like the Bridgestone tire pattern, for les than 2/3 of the price. I have been very happy with them so far.

I have the Avon MTech 500 in those sizes from Tire Rack. Great deal. If you're only putting a few thousand miles a year get something cheap & sticky because they'll be too old before they wear out oterwise. I'm very happy with them.

Splurge on an alignment with a corner balance and you will be a happy man. With new tires, the car will rock !

+1 on the alignment and corner balance... Made a huge difference for me.

Cheap & sticky?
Check out Hankook RS2's.
great streetable track tire! Decent in the rain as well!
Another really good one that performs extremely well on the street, but not so good on the track... Falken 452. Longer tread life than the Hankook, but not as sticky.

Cheap and sticky are good, but do not last more than about 30k. Mine are both. The Fuzion cost me less than $90 per tire in 205x55 16 and 225x50 16.
