g50 gearbox help needed a.s.a.p !
Hi! Ive just had my gearbox/trans reconditioned and need some info on 1, gearbox to engine bolt torque values and 2, wot is the best oil to refill box with ? Thanks
|
Lots of opinions on oil, mobil 1 and redline seem to be preferred over sweepco for the G50 both of which are available in the UK. Do a search if you have time.
Bentley book says "Transmission to engine 45NM (33 ft-lb) Good luck |
Thanks jevvy ! I couldnt find it in bentleys !
|
Yeah, took me a few thumbs through, it was stashed right at the end of the "engine reinstall" section.
Give me a shout if you cant find Mobil 1 and I will dig out where I sourced mine from. |
folks who race them recommend not just the off-the-shelf Mobil 1 75W90 synthetic, but instead the 75W90 SHC synthetic. If you're just street driving, the regular Mobil 1 should do just fine for you.

Thanks again jevvy and KTL ! Ive been so stressed over the last few days because a month ago today i handed over my pride and joy to a mate who owns a (so called ) performance car workshop to remove engine/gearbox, have the gearbox diff bearings replaced, fit new complete clutch and updated fork and bushes and full service, just to find out after he removed the engine and sent the box away he decided to build a car to enter the gumball and dumped my car up a corner where it recieved a dent in the wing and wold me ime not his only costomer and it won be finished for another couple of weeks ! So i went and removed my car back home and now have the job of building the car in my garage ! Its a steep learning curv ! So thanks for your help ! Just picked up the Mobil 1 g/box oil £44 ! Sting ! Could only get 75w90 synth as they dont stock SHC ! Ime sure i will have a few more Questions over the next week so may call on you again ! MATT
