2.2 Decal Placement?

Hello, folks. Excuse my ignorance, but does anyone know the exact placement of the optional 2.2 decal that goes on the rear view window of a 1971 911? I've read it may be centered four inches above the bottom of the window; but, I'm not sure. Just want to do it correctly. Thanks for any thoughts. Best, Panama Dre

Andre,
I recently replaced mine after a change of back window in my multi $$$ rustoration.
According to the accessories book, the decal is centred over the corrected bottom clip and the top edge should be just under the fourth wire up.
Use the little yellow 'stick it' tags for a trial run and also to mark the corners when you peel the backing off the decal.
A bit of a pest trying to work in that area but it turned out ok for me.
The pic is in the Brian Long book - Porsche 911 the definative history - 1963 to 1971 p 148.

Cheers,
Dennis.

Dennis:

Thanks for your input, which comes at a good time becasue I currently have the window out of the car. I can now place the sticker using the fourth wire of the defrost as a guide (as you explain). I've also come accross the Definitive History book several times but have been reluctant to secure it. Perhaps, I have more motivation now as I'd like to see your car!

Best, many thanks

Andre

Congrats on your S! I am learning that this is most desirable model own/restore. But, my father left me a Targa, Sportomatic E. In the latest issue of Excellence, an article suggests all early models have escalated in value about $4k per year over the past five years! The S is clearly the most valuable at $32k. At any rate, well done on your car and thank you again. I'll be glad to forward photos of my project (a baby compared to your example) when it is done later this week.
