New Tires and ride height?

I am finally springing for some new shoes for my Euro 78 SC and I ve got stock Fuchs with 6's 195/ 65 r 15 in front and 7's 215/ 60 R 15 in the rear.

After talking with Orrin at Eurosport it sounds like I should upgrade to Yoko ES100's 205 front and 225 in the rear. I am not so much worried about the tire choice as I think this is a good choice. But will I notice the ride height difference? Is there anything else I should think about . These will be a lower profile tires than what I run currently. What about highway driving?

Thanks,

Steve

If you want to keep your ride height similar to what it is now and use the width's you're talking about, you'd have to go with 205/60-15 for the front and 225/55-15 for the rear. Tirerack's website lists AVS ES100's available for the front in 205/60-15, but not the 225/55-15 for the rear. Do a Yahoo or Google search for "miata tire calculator" and and you'll see what you can go with to get close to the ride height that you're looking for.

If you DID go w/ the same aspect ratio (ie 60) your ride height would only increase about 1/4".

205-195 = 10 mm x .65 = .65mm or about 1/4"

BTW I think this is right. The oa dimension of the tire would increase by about 1/2" but the ride height is only affected from the axle down. If this isn't right, please correct me on this.

If you go to the next lower profile, obviously the ride height would reduce. I recently made a similar change and noticed that while the cornering feel improved w/ the lower profile, the comfort level did not diminish.
