911 Decklid Script Relocation
I just couldn't bring myself to drill holes in my fresh paint, so I mounted the script on my grill;

Excellent idea. Looks great there.
|
Thanks, the emblem is chrome like, but more like a satin finish. I modified the plastic grill so the emblem sits flush.
|
Cool idea. Nice looking tail.
Ahhhh....a nice targa in Paradise. Sweet. |
Car looked great when you came by on Sunday.:D
|

Hetmann,
Looks great, I think we may be on to something, ...... smooth Porsche butts:rolleyes: |
I have to admit, the clean look is striking.
|
So the SC script bolts in? The Carrera ones go on with double sided tape.
|
I had deleted mine on the SC completely. It's not like people don't know it's a 911 without it. The dark cars came with the silver emblem, the light cars with the black one. That said, you have the "correct" one for a black (grille) background.

Hugh,
The SC script has 5 prongs that use the same fasteners as the hood badge. |

See below for my results. Made the car faster too, with about 2 ounces missing off the back! ;) George http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1152604150.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1074836726.jpg |
Who cares?

John Paterek (Porsche concours guru) says that all of the SC deck scripts were black, but many faded out to a pewter color. I dunno..I see a lot of those pewter ones. He insisted on painting mine black, in fact! Have any info to prove they came in the pewter color? |
No hard info, but that it would fade to what I had on my lid is plain BS. It would not fade evenly throughout. NO black on the backside of my script either or around the edges. I have seen many light colored SC scripts and they are always on darker color cars. The place to look would be Porsche factory brochures and pictures with dark cars in it. You should be able to find a freshly faded pewter script. ;)
