need help ID 14" 5.5 fuchs
I picked up a set of 5.5 14" fuchs a couple of days ago and when I cleaned them up they didn't have a 911 part number. The part number begins with 901. What did these come off of?

Although I can't tell you the year or model, I'm pretty sure they came off of a 911.
If I remember correctly Porsche used 901 as an internal model designation. When they started to use the number publicly Pueguot (sp?) held the trademark rights to 901. Porsche just moved up one number to 911. So even though the car was\is called a 911 a bunch of parts were numbered starting with 901. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. And you'll be happier if you don't try and figure out the part numbering shceme. Trust me. Just use a site like this to decode or find a part number. peace. |
901 was the early part number before they switched to 911. Actually the 911 was going BE a 901.....until the French complained due to one of their auto manufacturers already using that zero in the middle for their crappy cars.
