Pop-off valve needed for CIS air box you ask? Why yes I say... Had a backfire recently when starting on cold morning and found the damage done to the air filter (new one in now)... Check it out:

$20 filter change or
$300 airbox swap (swearing, cursing, smacking self in head for not installing pop off valve included) no brainer.....
