915 Trans Numbers?
I have a 915 Transmission from a 1974 911, I am trying to find out more about the transmission, where can I find out what the numbers mean? Also, There are 3 numbers that I have found.
one number is on transfer case, 915 301 102 0R The other is on the outer Housing where the Spline is: 915 301 101 OR Another is on the bottom..But I can only make out the last 3 digits 310 Anybody have any information? Thanks Tanner |

Those raw casting numbers won't do you any good! What you need off the bottom rib near the drain plug are the Type Number and Serial Number.
If it is a 915/06 ... it is a 5-speed with 7:31, 4.429:1 ring & pinion. A 915/16 is a 4-speed. Only choices for '74.
