993 alignment DIY ?

Hi,

Is there a way to do an alignment on the 993 rear suspension. I am thinking mostly about adjusting the kinematic toe adjustment.

I am going to be getting the car on the road, and it may be a bit before I can get it on a good alignment jig. Is there a process for adjusting this.

Thanks

Ed

Yes, there is. Pretty well documented in the Porsche technical manuals.

There are special tools that are typically used to set the Kinematic toe, either from Porsche or Autometrics. These are not typically in the kit of a basic alignment shop, but from a Porsche specialist.

I'm sure there are trackside ways of adjusting the toe, IIRC it involves removing the strut so you can swing the wheel through the range of travel and check for bump steer. Waaay out of my skill level, but a walk in the park for someone like Tyson.
