Torsion Bar Tubes
We have a 1966 car with a very rusty torsion bar tube and I imagine it will need changing.
Does any one know if the gearbox mounts will need moving if I use a tube from a car that had a 915 box? Thanks |

I'm not sure about the transmission mounting points but the trailarm brackets on the LWB cars and later are not on the same position as on the SWB cars. Using the LWB tube with SWB trailarms does not work AFAIK.

torsion tube
The transmission mounts are the same for the swb, lwb cars. that's 901 and 915. As mentioned, the trailing arm mounts are different , projected at different angles. Not sure where your
rust is, however, I have a torsion tube that's for sale, $10.00 plus shipping. It is out of a 66 912, which by the way is the same on 911 and 912 cars of that year. If you want a pic I can e-mail it to you. I live in Arizona, good luck. 76 911S 81 911 SC 66 912 v8 70 914 project car |

Forgot to mention, you can use a torsion tube that originally had a 915 trans. That's going to be from a 72 or later. LWB cars
began in 1969. If you use that later torsion tube you will need the later trailing arms which will set your wheels further back. Big headache. Stick with the swb torsion tube. |
