Correct windshield for 79 SC targa
Has anyone used safelite to install a windshield. They are quoting a windshield with a tinted top in either blue or green. My glass is tinted, but it is not a color. I don't need a internal antenna, so can anyone recommend a place to purchase a windshield and i will try to do it myself

Safelite has their own glass which used to be known for its sub par quality. Normally the big questions are with or without antenna and with or without Green tint. Whichever direction, get the OEM seal. Its not an extremely difficult install. plenty of posts you can search here to see step by step

I am trying to find out if the green tint is a factory option or was the glass not tinted in 79? Also do you know of a better glass supplier?

Just about all windshields are tinted. What they were asking is if it is shaeded across the top. Either green or blue. In most cases it would have come from the factory shaded, color depends on vehicle / interior color.
As far as better suppliers...Pilkington and PPG are recognizable names. You can still buy Sekurit (OEM) which is part of the Saint Gobains family. A decent auto glass shop will be able to get any of these. I worked in the Auto glass field for a substantial company. Sekurit glass, Green Shade and Antenna cost us $137.00 and we typically would sell it for as much as $500.00 depending on the type of work. You should be able to negotiate a decent price.
