Tire traumas in Denver

Sorry Guys, I thought I had this settled with the Yokohama ES100's till I got my copy of Panorama today. Inside there was a $100.00 rebate for PCA members if I purchased the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Position. Most of the reviews of the RE050A Pole Position seem to be very positive.

I am also seeing that the ES100's seem a bit hard to get. TireRack is showing a back order for the 225/50ZR16. A local tire shop has them but wants to charge me $136.00 per tire. JUST THE TIRE. THATS $136.00 PER TIRE!! DID YOU HEAR ME??? Both Tirerack and Discount want $88.00 and $97.00 respectivly for just the tire. I even went back to show the guy the numbers thinking it may have been an error. Nope. He was firm on his price. Thats ok, it is a free market.

All that said, do I:

A. Hold out for the ES100's that are on back order?

B. Buy the $136.00 tires so I can be on my way down the road? (not my choice)

C. Go with the Bridgestones.

The current Dunlop 8000's on the car are completley worn out in the rear, so this is important I do something soon.

I do not track or autocross. The car is a three season ride.

Damn, I did not labor this much over what we were going to name our boys when they were born.

would it help you to know that I have to pay $267.00 each for my Bridgestone S03s? You don't even want to know how long these tires will last.

I just name the "lefty" and "righty". This naming system works on a great many things.......

I'd not get the ES100s. I tried them once. Hard sidewalls that gave great feedback, but they weren't grippy enough. I ended up sliding around a lot, and because of the sliding they wore pretty quickly.

Tires are CONSUMABLES. If you buy something and aren't completely happy, you'll have another opportunity soon enough.

If you're just streeting your car, guy either one and you'll probably be quite happy. If the price is similar, buy the Bridgestones. $.02.

I bought a set of ES 100s, and within a couple hundred miles, got rid of them. They should not be considered a high-performance tire.

Kumho MX.. I'm had a lot of tires and besides being a bit slick before they're warmed up, I can't fault them for longjevity/ price/ performance.
Should be about 110$ a corner, best I remember.
( I was never a fan of the yoko's.. -kinda pseudo-sporto)

I have Bridgestone RE050's on my 2007 MazdaSpeed3 and love them. I have Bridgestone RE650's on my '74 911 and love those too.

Get the Bridgestones, I have S-02's on my turbo, and they have been good. I only get about 10,000 miles on the back ones, and you don't want to know what they cost.
