1970 911E - New project car
As of this week, I became an happy new owner of a 1970 911E that has been in storage for the past 11 years. It has original paint in #2020 - pastel blue.
She is in original condition with the exception of the suspension. There are some light to medium rust issues in two areas that I will need to address as well. This weekend begins the effort of trying to get her started again to see if the motor is completly toast or whether or not she can breathe. I am hoping for the best. I will be pulling the gas tank to have it boiled and mid next week a complete going through of the fuel system - lines, Injectors, MFI pump, etc will take place. Tom Amon of Mobile Works West will be helping me in the initial stages of this project. In the months ahead, I will be posting the progress that I make on the restoration of this beauty with the goal of having her well along in time to attend the 52nd Porsche Parade in San Diego this July. I have posted some pics for everyone to see and I look forward to the progression of this project with help from others. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads10/CDOCUME+1lafleurLOCALS+1TempDSC_26551174675720.jpg[/img]

Congratulations! Appears to be a Karmann coupe. Have you run the numbers to check build date ....etc.?
Best regards, Dave |

Winner of the C-Prod class at the 1968 SCCA Run-offs And numerous other races in his 911 during the late 60's. Isn't AJR owned or run by the same Alan Johnson?

I am looking forward to see your progress. I too have a 70 E that was in a barn for the better part of 12 years. After a bout 2 years of very slow gong I am now trying to get to an oil leak, think it is the cooler and have been working on getting it off without dropping the engine, no room to do it. Right now i am removing the MFI to get the shroud off. As it turns out the mice got under the shroud and it was filled with old insulation, it was a good thing that I did not run it very long before I saw the oil pouring out. I'll probably try cleaning the MFI and then if it is the cooler time to put it back together, the only other big thing is that it needs new HE's, the old ones were rusted through

Congratulations, she's a beauty!
I bought my first project car last August, and have many hours of pleasure bringing her back to life. She's now my daily driver. Follow the guidance on this board. Except for Wayne's book, you'll never get better advice, even from instructions included with parts. I could NEVER have done it without this forum.

How did you determine that from the pics?

I think the tip off is the black engine compartment.

Hey, what a beauty !!! I'm glad to see you are going to keep it original. I'd love to make a find like that. Best of luck with it.
