Saturday afternoon install and small rust fix

Hi!

I had a chance to see Markus Sucro last weekend and he brought along one of his relay kits for me. I installed it today without a problem. Only thing I should have down, is to route the wires behind the fuse block. I also was not ready to drill two holes to mount the relays, so I used some strong 2 sided tape for now.

I also removed the tank of a battery to clean up some rust from an earlier battery that exploded. There is still some residual powder that I have to get rid of, but it was neutralized a while ago and does not seem to be a problem. I am unsure if there used to be a smaller hole in the fender for the battery vent, but there is a hole there now that had been rusting for some time. I cleaned the surrounding area and sprayed some flat black Rustoleum over the affected area. There are a few smaller spots above the positive terminal, but again, they seem stable right now and have been there few at least 10 years.

Some pictures I took. I forgot to take the after pics :)

Looks like this was made in 1883, not 1983

Battery back in place, bracket cleaned up with wire wheel and sand paper, then sprayed with Rustoleum.

Hole behind battery. Was this smaller at one time? I forgot to take a picture after I sprayed it.

Zip tied and fuse cover in place. Not bad.

Next project is to replace the valve cover gaskets (again. Started leaking after a day at Willow) with silicon gaskets, change the oil filter and oil as well. Oh, replace the rubber rings in the oil return tubes.

Always a good time getting dirty with the 911
