porsche sc shifter work on 915 transaxles?
Hi they I was selling my stock shift kit online off of my 1982 porsche sc and I got this question, will it work for them?
I have a 72 915 trans axle with the "H" shift pattern. I'm trying to put it in a 56 VW beetle. Does this shifter work with the 915 transaxles? |

72 was a 915, just like the 82. the 72 shifter was wierd though, same pattern, but different design.

Please don't ruin a 56 Oval by hacking it up to install an unneeded 911 tranny

It happens to be my car and there are thousands of stock 56 Ovals running around. The sheetmetal needed to be cut is a small section in the rear package tray.
With VW trans axle based 5 speeds running $3000-$5000 , the stronger 915 trans axle is a good deal. I got mine for 900. Thanks for any info anyone can give. |
