Guys, i hear these cams give more power in an otherwise stock motor but what else will they do? Do they change fuel consumption much and how does the exhaust note sound through a stock system.
Cheers Matt

I did this and the difference is not that noticeable in any category. It seems that the main difference is more grunt above 4k RPM's. This is based on butt dino, and I have no actual dyno #'s. Since it's not expensive, I would say it's worth doing.

I have built a couple of 3.0's with 964 cams. Nice mild upgrade.
Cheers

Any ideas or experience on how this upgrade impacts the 3.0's emissions? Just wondering if it would still pass smog in CA.

I did this to my '79 SC motor. I thought it was a great upgrade. Seems to move the powerband up a bit. Definitely wakes up the motor. I ended up moving the motor to my '73 before having to smog it, but I talked to John (Camgrinder) and he said he's never had anyone have smog issues.

The last one I built is in an SC in California, it passed smog no problem.

I didn't do this during my rebuild, because you lose grunt off the line.

Really?? I have not noticed that at all. Same with the people who own the motors I built.
Cheers
