heavyer weight oil... less oil pressure?!!!

Hey guys,

I recently switched from 10w40 shell to 15w40 rotella shell. I also switched to a genuine porsche oil filter from a german aftermarket brand ( forget which one)

Anyway, now at idle, the oil pressure guage bounces around the 1 mark! is used to be about the 2 mark, is this normal? during reg driving, it is always above 3, mostly at the top part of 4

thanks!
Andrew

I believe normal would be 1 bar/1,000 rpm.

So, 1 bar at idle is fine, 3 bar at 3,000 rpm would be good.

A 10W40 and a 15W40 should be exactly the same viscosity when warm, i.e. 40. I wouldn't expect to see any significant pressure differences with those two oils.
