Use of weights for alignment

I'm lowering and corner balancing the Carrera this weekend. It has new Bilstien HD's. Bentley says to place 150 lbs. in each front seat, 150 lbs. in the center of the rear seats and 46 lbs. in the trunk with a full tank. What is the current thinking on this? The car will be set up for touring/daily driving and if I can't sell it my wife and I may take a long trip this fall.

I never saw that in the Bentley manual before but it indeed recommends 500 lbs of weight for a corner balance. I have never heard of this being done however. I believe typically it is your body weight in the drivers seat and a full tank of gas only. At least that is what my shop did when they did my car. If you are setting up the car for best performance with just you as the driver (tracking it?) it makes no sense to have all that other weight (i.e., front passenger, rear passenger(s), and luggage) accounted for.

Good Luck
Andrew

+1
Just the driver's weight and a full tank.

I'd go with driver's weight and 1/2 tank. My tank is usually more empty than full, and when corner balancing should count the most, you may not want to run it with a full tank (1/2 tank = ~65 lbs.).
