Fuel Distributor Guru's Question

I have an 81' motor in a 74'. It has the lamda removed and it was running a 78-79 **0 438 100 031** Fuel distributor.

It was suggested that I try a **0 438 100 037** that fits the turbo engine.

The reason is I have ported heads, Euro runners, 20/21 cams 74' exhaust and gutted muffler.

It is told to me that this distributor will give a little more fuel to match the extra air.

Anyone have any knowledge on this subject???

Thanks in advance,
Paul

won't fit, sizewise, and it's internal pressure regulator runs the fuel pressure way higher than non-turbo CIS.

Funny John, I was trying to call you but couldn't find your number.

I got the same info from someone else so I'm ditch'n that idea.

The other question is: The one I have is part number (0 438 100 031)

There was a Euro version of the 78-79 distributor designed for the larger runners.

Anyone have THAT part number???

Thanks,
Paul

OK, got it! There is not a "Euro" version. The 0 438 100 031 was used upto 79' in the US & EURO and then they changed the US version to smaller runners, added LAMDA, and went to a smaller Distributor. The EURO engines continued to use the 0 438 100 031 till 82' (I think).

So there it is if anyone has anything to add please do.

Thanks,
Paul

If you are looking for a little more fuel, there is an adjustment for each one of the injectors on top of the fuel distributor itself. You remove a cap and there's a tiny allen head under there that you can turn to increase\decrease the amount of flow. When I still had my 80 SC, I flow-matched the injectors by pulling all the injectors out of the intakes and putting them into graduated baby food containers. Running the fuel pump for a short period will give you a measured amount of fuel in them. You can repeat this test a few times and adjust them as closely as possible. Might work for your application...

Excellent Idea inac!

I am having mine rebuilt and a shop and said they flow test after rebuilt to insure equal pressure/flow from all ports. I wonder what the min/max adjustment will show relating to fuel pressure/volume? I wonder if I ask to preset to MAX flow if this will be the best thing for my application.

Is your car running lean? I would guess there's plenty of headroom there for just about anything you can do to a NA engine.
