power to coil....no spark???
I am almost finished with the 2.7-3.2 install and I have power to the coil but nothing leaving the coil. Anyone have any ideas on what I should try next? I have fuel, but no spark.
Thanks! |
Hi Kelly,
There should be a green wire connected to the #1 terminal. Nothing else. This green wire goes back to the DME Control unit, pin 1. The DME makes and breaks the green wire circuit to ground. If you connect a test wire to pin 1 of the coil, with 12 volts on pin 15 of the coil, then alternately touch the test wire to ground, you will get a spark from the coil if it's good. Make sure the DME is getting signals from the speed and reference sensor. You really need a schematic to trace all the wires. Bentley is a good source. |
I posted a reply thinking it was still a 2.7, then realized my mistake and deleted it.
In addition to what 2.7racer posted, just check that the speed and reference sensor connectors aren't transposed. Also check that the DME has a good ground, and the connector at the DME is fully seated. |
