decklid fitment trouble
I spent a long time yesterday trying to fit a new decklid. The one that was on there was not correct because it doesnt have mounting holes for the "PORSCHE" script but it fit well. The new one is correct for an early car but I cant seem to get it to fit well. The contour of the bottom does not match the contour of the car at all and it hangs too low. Slide it up any higher and there is an interference where the top gap would be. Ive tried many combinations of shims. Any help would be great.

That does not look like a shim issue, it appers the decklid has been bent down. My .02

I agree if all the other gaps are lining up, it looks to be a bend or defect.

It looks like the new deck lid is a pretty close color match.
Do you have the adjustable rubber bumpers at each of the corner of the decklid? These screw in or out to adjust the height of the lid relative to the rear fender. However, the edges of the deck lid and surrounding sheet metal should be at the same level all the way around. If the old deck lid fit well, revert back to it. What's easier? Fitting the new deck lid or drilling holes for the Porsche script? Sherwood |
