Getting a 911 engine from quebec to illinois?

I am negotiating on an old 911 engine which is located in Quebec. If all works out, it will have to be picked up at a residence in Quebec City and transported to 40 miles west of Chicago, IL.

I have no experience in such a transfer and hope someone might be able to get me headed in the right direction to get it done. I don't know if there are duties involved or other paperwork to be taken care of. I assume the engine (roughly 200 lbs.) would have to be picked up, crated, and then shipped by common carrier to here but I'm open to any suggestions.

Many thanks,
Jerry Weiland

Jerry,

It would have to be shipped via truck ...
Do a search for ESTES Express.com ,they have an outlet in Illinois and i used them recently
in the reverse order to ship a large item from Illinois to Montreal.

ESTES 1-888-382-1663 to get a quote, they will provide you with all the details.
You will have to download four forms from their website,Bill of lading,Rapid clear form,Customs invoice and Nafta agreement form.If you declare the item as a antique auto part, there will be no duties. You and the seller fill out your respective sections and arrange for pickup and delivery and you're all set !

Cheers !
Phil

I recently had an engine shipped from Tennessee to Albuquerque. I used Uship and was very happy with the price and service.

Forward air is reliable and economical, but both places must be close to forward air terminals and engine must be on a pallet delivered and picked up at their terminals

Kevin Schultz at 1 800 998 2100.

Engines Direct: 800.998.2100

Will pu at a residence if engine is strapped to a pallet.
