Interior light question

Hi..Question about the driver's side, interior ceiling light. In the middle position, it lights up when the door is open as it should. But, when I click it to the right...forward position, the light does not light up when the door is closed.

I assume its a metal contact of some sort. Ive got my Bently book and I see its pretty easy to pop out the light.

What should I be looking for? I dont think its the bulb or fuse because as I said, it lights up when the door is open.

Thanks alot..I know its a small thing but im trying to get every little thing to work as it should. Ill probably ask about the headlight washers next

Scott

Scott,

I could be confused here because I rarely mess with the interior light position but did you try pressing the light down on the right side (toward the rear?). I know that in one position the light is "off", in the middle it's on when the door is open, and the other position it is on when the door is closed. If you tried both positions and it still didn't come on, remove the light from the car and see if the body of the light is making contact with the metal frame of the hole. Sometimes the headliner material insulates the metal nub on the light and when there is no ground, the light won't "light." If this sounds confusing, when you remove the light, you will see what I mean.
