Electrical Help Post Screw Up
Here I will lay my soul bare hoping for advice. I am an electrical
engineer that has just screwed up the wiring in my own 911. 1987 911 carrera cabriolet- standard except for modifications to accommodate an aftermarket slant nose conversion. Just finished top end and clutch job with over a 100 miles on it with no electrical problems. Temp gauge reading almost 250 anytime I drove the car (replaced all sensors during the engine out). Decided it was time to install the calibrated gauge and sending unit. changed out both and now temps won't go over 180! Something still amiss. Removed new temp gauge and replaced with original. Plugged all the lights and leads back onto their correct position and nicked the insulation around the charging indicator without noticing. plugged gauge back into dash and turned switch to the on position to check before starting. Instant cloud of vaporized insulation from the + lead to the indicator light. Now WTF what to do. Started unwrapping insulation from loam and have yet to get to an undamaged end to re splice a lead back to the indicator light. At this point I am contemplating abandoning the wire inside the loam and replacing it back to the source. WHERE DOES THIS GO TO?????? I have a Bentley manual and all it says is to the alternator. There are some very unorthodox schematics but they don't show any better detail. Anyone else suffered this foo-pa. Thanks Keith Epperly 87 slant nose turbo look carrera cabriolet |

COME ON GUYS, I KNOW THIS IS MORE DIFFICULT THAN CHOOSING WHAT COLOR FLOOR MATS TO BUY BUT IT CAN'T BE THAT HARD TO SOMEONE THATS BEEN "THERE" BEFORE.
