'70-'71 clutch fork question
Hi,
I think I already know the answer, but I am going to ask anyway in hopes of not having to pull the engine and trans. The clevis broke on my clutch cable. Of course I didn't have a spare so I ordered one and got a few days later. I installed it today, but it seems that when the clevis broke - the pedal went to the floor and I heard a loud "ping" - the throw out bearing was in the exact right position for the clutch fork to come loose. What are the odds? Anyway, is there any way to get the clutch fork ears back behind the throw out bearing without dropping the engine and trans or am I screwed and might as well set aside a day all because the stupid clevis broke? Thanks, Allan |

The openings you need to access are located on the top of the transaxle. I have been successful in getting the arm back on the T/O bearing without having to separate the TA from the engine but the engine was out and it still took some finagling but it can be done. Yes you are "screwed", the engine/TA has to come out.
