oil cooler fan wiring

I've reviewed 101 projects and it says to wire the two temp sensor wires to the two fan motor wires.I lack the wire connector for the temp sensor. The cooler housing has a ground connection near the temp sensor.Am I wiring + to the sensor and - to that ground connection or does the temp sensor have a ground or negative terminal contact on the proper wire harness connector?I want to wire in a manual dash on/off switch also. Thanks for your time.Jim.
