Tell Me About Rust

I pulled off one of door sills today and part of the paint came with it (see pics below). How does one fix this, is it fixable, will it spread? Any opinions? Is there anything I can do?

Well, if you're lucky, its mostly just surface rust. That said, if your paint came off with it, it might be a bigger issue than you want. If you really want to fix it, you have to grind the paint off around it and see how far and how deep the rust is. Then take appropriate measures. You can either grind (or blast) the rust off, hit it with POR-15, and touch up the paint, cut the rust out and weld a patch of metal in, or replace the whole rocker panel. It depends on how extensive the damage is at this point.

Looks like surface rust to me. Sand or grind the layer off and repaint.

I am with crashmy911. Sand paint and reinstall the rocker panel. Nothing looks structural. Unless it's structural, I'd leave things alone. Just my two cents,

George

Oh come on. Thats not rust. Find the closest 65-70ish 911/912 and take a look at all four suspension mounts. You will understand rust.
