Progress report

Here's a few pics from today. We finally go the tub painted and ready to assemble. Now I've got to figure out the stud length for the 915 on my 3.2l. If anyone knows let me know. I've got it figured at 110mm for the short three and 130mm for the starter stud, does that sound right?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1179709598.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1179709868.jpg

Looks great! I know what it takes to get to this point. Alot of time and hard work. It looks like it's paying off. keep us posted.

rattlsnak 05-21-2007 09:19 AM

do you have some pics of the rear shelf? it looks grey?

good work so far!

overman 05-21-2007 01:08 PM

Duke... Beautiful job! Love to drop by some time if you wouldn't mind. What light weight are you building?

DUK 05-21-2007 02:50 PM

Rattlsnak- The rear tray and seat area are raw aluminum. The white plastic covering is still on the aluminum though, that's what makes it look gray. I'll take some pics of that when I'm finished and take the plastic off.

Overman- Stop by anytime, I'll pm you my phone number. I'm not sure what you mean by "what light weight"? I'm just trying to strip as much as possible.

Gene Wilkes 05-21-2007 02:59 PM

WOW! Great looking car! Will be truly sweet when finished!

DUK 05-21-2007 03:01 PM

Thanx islandmanpa. Now I've just got to get an extinguisher for it. Any ideas? BTW where are the islands in PA?

Jon Merck 05-21-2007 07:28 PM

Hey Duke, looking good... when are you planning on being done and tracking that baby?

KCinBR 05-22-2007 03:20 AM

Looks like you are comming along nicely, cant wait to see the finished product. Would like to see in person.

KC

DUK 05-22-2007 06:46 PM

Jon- Hopefully in a month or so. I'll let you know when I'm getting close.

KC- Anytime you're in the area let me know and we can meet up.

KCinBR 05-23-2007 02:57 AM

I would like that.....
THERE IS NO WAY I'M COMMING ANY WHERE NEAR YOUR PLACE THIS WEEKEND. To much traffic and to many drunks....(I know I used to be one )

KC :D

mattmcginn 05-23-2007 05:35 AM

Nice no- driprails. I just did this on a car a few weeks ago and what a pain it is to get the underlying metal nice and clean so the welds come out nicely!

Its a super clean look. NIce work

Facey 05-23-2007 10:58 AM

wow.

something tells me this isn't the first time you've done something like this, the thoughness shows everywhere i look.

after having completed 2 builds now i understand how hard it is to have such a well layed out plan.

Some more progress this weekend. New alarm system (watch it she bites) and rear seat delete.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1181090947.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1181090981.jpg

DUK 07-08-2007 06:54 PM

Here's some more progress. Even tried to fire it, but had some issues with the crank sensor. Hopefully we'll have that remedied by next weekend.

Well can't seem to upload pics right now so I'll try again later.

DUK 09-02-2007 06:23 PM

Some from today, getting closer. Now If I could get the painters to finish I'd be finished.

DUK 09-06-2007 04:13 PM

Ianc- That's actually my neighbors house. He's a cop but very understanding (read- he has a cherry '69 Chevelle) besides I took him for a spin also. I just thought the pic was funny.

JackMan 09-06-2007 05:19 PM

Wow, fantastic work. Great thread. Subscribed.

azasadny 09-06-2007 05:24 PM

Gorgeous!!

Walko 09-06-2007 05:42 PM

It is great to see the attentionn to detail that every one puts into these projects

DUK 09-06-2007 06:30 PM

Attention to detail- is that what you call it. My wife says it's "anal retentiveness"

efhughes3 09-06-2007 06:40 PM

The stock stud lengths for a 915/3.2 marriage are: 70 and 102mm. Just put mine in last weekend. G50's are a bit longer, but this is what I gleaned after looking at several references. It all seemed to make sense as far as the way they installed.

The car is looking good!

efhughes3 09-06-2007 06:42 PM

Just noticed, I'm a little late on stud lengths...

DUK 09-07-2007 01:56 PM

Thanx Ed, Yes your a bit late but it at least reinforces what I used.

nesslar 09-07-2007 02:09 PM

The only thing I would have done differently is to go with H4 headlights and color matched rings. The updated bumpers (Ruf YB circa-'86-'89) makes it appear newer than '75. Of course, this is just an appearance item, except for the much better lighting from the H4s.

Looks GREAT though. Truly great work! Since you're in NC, there's a chance I'll get to see it sometime.

DUK 10-13-2007 06:18 AM

Yes actually the rings are getting painted as we speak and I'm thinking H4's in the future, I still like the look of the sugar scoops and the newer silverstar bulbs have helped. Thanx for the comments and hope to see you sometime as well.

mjshira 10-13-2007 06:43 AM

you've got a lot to be proud of, well done. I like some of the unique things you've done to your car, some of which I've not witnessed on other cars. I think you're going to end up needing to do something with those seats as they won't cut it for sport driving. So I'd suggest you plan for that. I'd also think a prototipo would make a great upgrade steering wheel wise.

too bad you're not closer, I'd have been by to help :-D
