Smoking on left hand turns

I have a 74 911 Targa. During a recent event at Road America I ventured into a touring event that allowed us to drive on the track. Coming down Moraine Sweep into turn 5 is a hard left turn and then up a hill. Once completing this turn and looking into my rear view mirror a big puff of smoke would be coming out my rear. Not sure if it was coming out of the muffler or a spill on the heat exchanger. It would only happen following this turn and to some extent into the next turn (six) which is another decent hard left. It didn't happen anywhere else on the track as its mostly right hand turns and some slight lefts. My engine does leak a little oil but its not that bad, maybe a couple of drips a week at the most on the right side of the engine. What would cause this to this to happen and is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening again? I like to drive in drivers ed and some track events everyone once in a while.
Embarrassing to say and to the safety of the people racing In the event I got pulled into the pits and after a quick check I was allowed back on the track after no leaks were detected.

45 Views and no post! OK I'll take a SWAG. Your leak may be pooling somewhere and when you make those hard left turns it is spilling on the heat exchanger.......that's all I got....

Good Luck

Is your oil tank filled to the max? Maybe sloshing up into the breather tube and being inhaled on those hard lefts. Check inside you air filter housing to see if its wet with oil.

I was beginning to wonder if any was out there. Those are some good points. Thank you both for your response. My dad said it might be the breather tubes as well. I'll check up in their for both options. I did have an oil change a couple months ago, after that I did Auto Cross though with no problems. I guess it could be the combination of a hard break, then a hard left and then an acceleration - up hill thus working its way in there.

my 74 likes to run just above the min mark on the dip stick or she will slosh up the breather on hard corners. Other option MAKE RIGHT TURNS ONLY !!!

Opened up the airbox when I got home from work today. There was a small puddle of oil sitting in their so that must have been it. I guess I have to get some oil out of the tank- Whats the easiest way to do that?

Easiest way or least messy way? Put a bucket under the engine sump drain and loosen until it starts leaking out. I'd say pull a quart, warm her up and recheck. Or you can suck it out the filler neck with a vacuum pump like this one:

I use this on my customers boats, it's quick and easy.
