911 Bad Idle and Odd Behavior!!! Help!
 

Been awhile since I posted. Moved from Denver to Philadelphia (no comments needed!). Here's my problem:
My '84 Carrera now exhibits two distinct problems: it idles roughly, and gets loopy at times, too. Loopy= idles high then low, and then repeats itself. The second is that after driving for a bit, say 15-20 minutes, it will not respond to throttle, like it is out of gas at other than idle rate.
Is this a COlortadop to PA problem? Is it two different problems or a linked one? Please help!!!

The first thing I would do is take the car to a knowledgeable mechanic and get the mixture adjusted. The huge difference in altitude likely is playing a role in high/low idle, and may be the cause of the other problem as well.

Bite the bullet and take it to a mech. I was having the same rough idle problem (my mech called it "idle searching"), and although the fix was a bit pricey due to labor, mine runs superbly now and I couldn't be happier. Good luck.

I replaced a bunch of parts, and still my car had an idle hunting problem. I then took it to my mechanic and had the mixture adjusted. That solved the problem, and the idle has been rock solid ever since.
