What's up with ELGINs?

Elgin's shop used to be located a few miles from my house which was really nice....I could get my cams reground within a week or two. They moved to Santa Rosa earlier this year so I sent two set of cams about a month and a half ago and called them to expect the cams (I just left a message on the answering machine). I received a confirm from FED EX that the cams were delivered. I've left at least 5 messages since then and I have never been able to talk to anyone over there. No one has called back either. Is anyone having the same experience????? I hope I don't have to make a trip up to Santa Rosa.

Can't really tell you, but speaking of Elgin (shameless plug), I do have a pair of Elgin T cams reground to E spec for a 72-73 for cheap. $200 for the set - used less than 4K miles.

Went thru the same hassle with them: lots and lots of calls, no fax machine, then no answer to fax. I had to send a registered letter
i think they are severely short handed, they took 4 x as much time to get a set of cams done than normal. Quality was just fine, service was not

Dougherty or Web Cam is for us now

Thanks for the replies....

Nice to know they were not singling me out. Geeze...when TRE (Dave B) has the same experience, I guess I can't complain too much. When they were just a few miles away, they would complete my work in just a few weeks. Sounds like a trip to Santa Rosa.

Oh yeah...and Rick. I'll take those E spec cams! I'll send you a PM.
