What color is this car? ? ?

I am wondering if you guys could help me figure out what color this car is exactly. I kinda need to know sooner rather than later and don't currently have access to the door jam to check the number.

It is a 1978 911SC. I think it is the original color because the inside of the truck etc is all the same. I was thinking that it is cashmere beige paint code L502 but the car looks lighter than that. The only other paint option for the 1978 line I think is talbot yellow paint code L106.

Thanks
Rich

Not sure what color it is, but I like it. Sahara Beige?

Anyone know why Porsche has been removed from Paintscratch.com? I used to go there a lot to ID Porsche colors.

Yeah I tried to check there as well. But 1978 had no porsche colors. 1980 did and that is where L502 looked much browner than this car.

Dan from Pasadena has a mid year car that looks very similar. I think his is Sahara Beige. This one does look a little more bronze or butterscotch.

Why the urgent need for a color ID? You buying or painting one like it? Anyway, here's a bump.

I was on paintscratch 5 minutes ago...worked fine...

EDIT> Could be Casablance Beige Metallic Clearcoat L463....

Doesn't seem to go earlier than 1980 however...

ARe you buying this car? If so, ensure you know for sure whether it's a US or ROW delivery--the antenna is on the passenger side on the US cars.

ROW cars can come with some issues.

Paintscratch removed the pre 1980 paint samples. Here is an email I received as to why...

"Many of the older Porsche colors are no longer makable due to toner availability. If there is a color you want, just give us the
code. If we can make it we will add it back to the site so you can order it."

I told him we need to see color samples for ID'ing at least.

Oh contrare! My car is a '76 and it IS Sahara Beige. The same color is also known as Desert Beige. But it looks nothing like this car in my opinion. This color (I've seen it before) has another name that escapes me. I just can't remember the name but it will come to me eventuall.

Here is my car and though Sahara doesn't photograph accurately, it is truly a light yellow and has no brown at all.

L502 Cashmere Beige seems reasonable to me (and it's gorgeous). It's definitely not Talbot Yellow.

GPW. I like it a lot, but it is not very shiny anymore and a complete repaint is ridiculously expensive these days. Been reading all these praising threads about clay. Maybe IŽll give it a try.

Markus,
If it is truly dull, clay barring will dissapoint you. Clay is miraculous at removing tiny, almost invisible contaminants that result from tree sap, bugs and the impurities in polluted air, but it doesn't remove all that much oxidation in my experience.

If truly that dull you should consider taking it to a really good shop and have them give it a color sand with like 2000 grit followed by a polish and wax. If you have minor door dings and/or chips? Visit your local new car dealership, you can frequently find the guy they use that comes around and does minor air brush repairs of dings and dents to do a "side" job for you. THEN do the color sand/detail job. It will cost a few hundred but nothing like the cost of a quality windows-out respray with new rubber, etc. I think you would be VERY happy wit hte results versus the cost of a full respray.
