Seat Lowering - Opinion & Photos Please

I am 6' 3" and find that with my standard 1973 seats, my head hits the roof if I try to wear a helmet.

Francis Tuthill (Euro Rally 911 Prep) welds tubes between the sills and centre tunnel on the floor, to allow mounting much lower.

If I go for aftermarlet RS / ST Seats, how can these be mounted lower ?

Ian

seat lowering

Hi Ian
If you go to ou site youhave the choice of the Nurburgring,Sebring,ST and LeMAns, as wel as the RSR that is not yet pictures.
These seats canbe mounted lower in the car due to a smaller "waistline"
The Rallye STS in our new version looks more classic-as far as the side lines and has a built in lower seating position.

Tyson Schmidt at WEVO lowered my seats a LOT. Check out the before and after. Maybe he'll chime in and tell you what he did.

i have a set of Stefan's nurburgring seats (LOVE EM!) and am doing exactly what you mentioned. i will be welding in (just learned to weld) square tubing on the floorboard and braced on the sills to act as the base.

actually, i think i may use rectangular tubing to facility getting a wrench in for the nut/bolt.

dammit, now i've given myself a headache thinking about this.....

i had put together a bolted in setup but now that i can weld i'll be switching.

I believe we all make mistakes but I will not validate your poor choices and/or perversions and subsidize the results your actions.

Stefan,

Are those the BF Torino seats ?

Being in the UK, I have ordered a set from wwclassics, along with the runners and mounts. If I cannot fit in the car with my helmet, then he will have them exchanged for a pair of Nurburgrings.

Ian

seatfitment

Hi Ian,
I usd to carry BF Torino but ...
As you see in the picture of Doug's installation he made nice cross members that drop deep down.
My suggestion or recommendation is to use only one tilting bracket and that on the passenger side.
It will raise the seat again and if you do some driving that you do not want anything more between you and the road that can flex or has it's own movement.

Ask Dan (DByers) on the Board. Dan had the same problem, and he lowered the seat in his 71T.
