Help on Boge Sport Shock ?

Hello, I have a 85 Carrera Boge strut p/n 911.341.042.05. Is it possible to rebuild this or what are my options ?? When I open the strut I pulled out the entire shock valve assy and fluid. It was not a shock cartridge or insert.

Please help.
Thank you in advance
Ted

As you have discovered the Boge strut uses the strut housing as the "shock" housing with the valve assembly and fluid inside. Most folks replace with Bilstien (HD or Sport) or Koni (adjustable) inserts. A search should get you lots of info on various set-ups depending on your intended use (street or track).

Good Luck
Andrew

When I did mine I took the guts out of the Boge housing and then the new Boge inserts slipped straight into the housing, and were held in place by new threaded collars which came with the inserts. Some of the oil in the housing overflowed when I dropped the new insert in, but that was to only problem - just hold a rag round the housing when you drop the insert in to catch the excess oil.
