headlights with single bottom mount?

I picked up a pair of fenders which came off a '68 (I think) and the headlight bucket has only one mounting tab for the headlamps at the bottom center.

Does anyone know what headlights fit this car? And do they have to match/mate with the chrome trim ring? I'd like to keep my old trim ring cause they're in good shape.

Any info is appreciated!

Nick

yes- that is the 68 and earlier headlamp set up. Get yourself a set of euro H-4's (with chrome rings) from our host. They will mount using the upper edge of the bucket and the screw on the bottom. And they will look nice too

$220 each is pretty pricey. Do you know if they're hard to find used? Are the old versions designated H-4 also? Is it a different chrome ring for the older ones than the ones that I have presumably off a '68 or '69 car...

thanks for the reply!

H1's will be the best headlights to install with no mods needed if its originally a RoW. They are pricey, but you can also go the H4 route as well. You may find good deals on the Classified section or on Ebay.

The correct ones to install would be the lamps with clear glass lenses and halogen or incandescent bulbs installed. Those also came with a chrome ring as part of the assembly

The euro H-1 housing looks like it mounts with the lamp lens flush and at the same angle as the headlight bucket. Was it the same way on the US version?

So basically whats the most readily available/affordable route? A used set of H-1s?

thanks for the photos.

most affordable would be a used set of usa assemblies like the yellow car. Second would be a used set of H4 assemblies. Third would be a new set of H4 assemblies , then the used h-1's (probably in the 600-1000 range now!) and lastly the new H-1's

and yes, all the described above mounts the same flush way with the lenses being the exception on angle for H-4 and H-1

fantastic, I'm on the lookout for a used set of US H-1s or a used set of H-4s either with rings included. Do either of them have any intermediate hardware like an inner plastic collar or some such?

Many thanks for the input, all. It's much appreciated. I'm trying to get the car on the road this coming week and I'm rounding up the last bits.

Cheers,

Nick
