Wink Windshield adjustment

So I decided to put my windshield back in, what fun that was. Took about 3 hours! I replaced the trim with 1/8" welding rod, we'll see how that works. It needs some tweaking, but thanks to John (disfin) with his adjustment technique demonstrated below it looks ok.

Just have to go around and get the outer lip to lay out flat.

Donnie, are you worried about the welding rod rusting? It looks like steel in the pics. Were you lacking the original trim?

It is copper rod, it may turn green I have the trim, but hate how it looks.

I used the original trim in replacing the front and back seals on my Targa. It's a pain, no doubt about it, and if the trim pieces have been hacked up beforehand, the challenge of the task is compounded.

One possible solution -- and it's been mentioned on here before -- is window screen spline that you can get at a hardware or home improvement store. Still, I haven't seen this idea actually employed. One-eighth inch sounds about right, as Donnie used.

I guess one of the learnings from last night would be to square the corners of the welding rod a little more than we did prior to install. Which is why we had to use a few well placed taps in the corners after the windshield was in to "encourage" the rod to bend which then allowed the corners of the rubber to seal properly to the body.

My favorite quote of the project "I think I have the wrong sized windshield"

We've got to adjust my muffler bearing next.

That quote was not as good as the kid "he builds porsches"
