Victory Motors?

Anyone have any insight to these folks? I found his used 911s on ebay and he seems professional, 100% groovy feedback and I rung him up. In speaking with him, I got the vibe that he performs a bunch more due diligence than most dealers. I may get a car from him but I wanted to run him by the folks here. I have seen his business mentioned on another thread. What's the word?

Oh, they are in Houston TX, owner is Robert Neel.

His name is FLIPPER, FLIPPER

Anyway, the deal we are discussing seems on target with average to low retail for the car plus his emphasis on feedback gives me a bit of recourse. I get frickin goosebumps reading the ads on ebay from all the world's cheats and knuckle heads. So impressed when an ad fails to mention SALVAGE, glad I have that 30 days of carfax, helps me double check hunches.

Honestly, if this guy can find me a decent car without me getting my arse flared, I would be pleased that he makes a healthy profit.

Take the PPI advice to heart. He sold an SC to a guy with 3 broken head studs. This was his first p-car and did not know better. I rebuilt that motor for him........

Cheers

Thanks all, I have PPI performed on two other cars and passed on them so far. I just searched for and read ALL posts here on VM. I'm not convinced they are crooks quite yet but I will certainly give him enough rope to hang himself.

The private seller path is a bit frustrating so far but I am two months into the process and I can go much longer to find the right car.

I have been to Robert's several times and I can tell you that he has the best collection of air cooled 911's I have ever seen.
He is very knowledgable and a nice guy as well.
I would buy any of his cars without hesitation.
Just my $.02.
If you need a PPI in the Houston, please don't hesitate to contact me.

I have never dealt with them but did see this thread below when I was looking for a car. Hard to sort all that out but sounds like the guy complaining may have set his expectations too high. That said, I found their prices to be way out of line w/the market - even for a dealer. Now it looks like they don't quote prices on their website anymore. The ol' call for more info trick.

Captain McB. Frustrated is ok, but don't get rushed. Be patient and keep looking if anything seems out of place or overpriced. Lot's of cars here too, check the for sale section.

Cool

I had an excellent experience with him. I bought an '87 targa from him - probably paid $1k too much. I had a PPI done and had my brother check out the car before I bought it. Both indicated that it was "as represented" and it checked out OK (compression, leakdown, etc.) (Unfortunately I was unable to see it before taking delivery.)
Got it delivered and everything was in excellent condition.

It required nothing for the first several thousand miles. I did do a complete change of fluids (brake, oil, gearbox) after 2K miles when I got the valves adjusted.

I would buy another one from him without hesitation (I smell a 993 in my future) but of course it will still require a PPI and a Pelican/Family member inspection as well.

As they said back during the late cold war...."Trust but verify"

When shopping for an 87-89 911, I saw one on his eBay store that piqued my interest. Called, found him to be forthright. Just as I was arranging to travel via air to inspect, he called to tell me they jsut discovered it would need valve guide/seals and didn't want me to come without being aware of that.

Didn't buy from him but I was impressed he took the time to warn of something he discovered subsequent to our initial discussions...

I'm new to this board and reading your post with interest as I was looking for a Porsche as well. As others have mentioned, VM buy many P-cars from eBay and resell them. Obviously he bought cars sight unseen without any PPI done and I highly doubt that he fixes any thing on the cars, nor does he know the maintenance history of the cars he sells. So buyers beware. I guess if one has PPI done before bidding it should be fine. But it would be really upset if I bought a car from him and found out later that I could have bought it for several thousands less on eBay a few months ago.

I see the tide turning, generally, positive on these folks. Will I pay an additional thou or two to a car locator who will have some interest in vetting candidates for purchase and maintaining a fairly positive rep? Hell Yeah.

I wonder what he might say if I asked for a 30 day warranty? That would be an interesting topic.

Me: So this is a great, well cared for car eh? I see the PPI at the shop your brother (the one in the mob) owns came back all tens!

Them: Absolutely! The previous 35 owners loved it like a member of the family and spared no expense lavishing massive with a stack of receipts that would put an HMO out of business.

Me: Wow, I'm sure glad you found such a great car to sell me. You seem confident enough to offer me a 30 day warranty for free then?

Them: ER, um, ouw.

Seriously, I suspect this guy is on the up and up.

I had gone to VM several times prior to puchasing my 996 & I
will reiterate what Stutgart46 said as to his cars....there are really
some awesome looking machines there.......but......they are about
$5,000 more than you could find them anywhere else.

But then maybe those other cars dont look as good as these.
As far as mechanically.....I dont know.

Robert was never there when I went to the showroom (always
on Saturday) he was always "on vacation".....lol.

I am in Houston (area) as well if you have any questions.

John,

I will get back to you.

I have not used any here in Houston for that purpose personally
although I have done a search before & came up with multiple hits.
