Has anyone tried this combination? I thought that I read somewhere that the top wings interfere with the interior of the car near the b-pillar.

If you don't mind the quick hijack, would GT3 seats fit a long hood?
I'm considering them for a 1970 RSR clone. Thanks. |

Now in 993 land ...
|
I have seen them in a 993 - that should be the same basic interior dimensions than any air cooled 911. In the 993 it is far from a direct bolt in, I was told.

Is this the seat you are interested in using?
![]() To mount this in an early car you will need to mount it on the floor. This will require the removal of the existing seat mounts. ![]() The mount on the floor should then be reinforced. ![]() As my car is open I cannot comment on clearance at the B pillar. |

Bob,
Yes, those are the GT3 seats I'm also considering for my car. I was told they're very much like the Pole Position seats except for the top portion by the shoulder harness holes. At this point, I can not easily modify the factory mounts, lots of stuff is already running under the tunnel as well and would not want to cut/weld on that area. Can you think of any other way to mount these with the factory mounts? A custom mount is doable specially if it can be bolted down to the existing hardware. Here is one made for sparco seats. ![]() This is what my mounts look like - old photo, in this photo the tab/mounts are not shown closest to the doors, but I do have them. ![]() |

Fernnando,
My seats are the 996 seats and as you can see the spacing of the factory mount is too wide for the normal seat mounts in the tub of a longhood thus the mods. You can see the mounting holes in the floor in the pics. I am also tall so getting the seat down is also an advantage for me. I do not know if 993 seat would fit inan early tub, but it would be worth looking into. Good luck. ![]() ![]() |

Tim,
That's a clean install, I like it! Thanks for the tip on the part nubers, it's good to know the GT3 993 and 996 seats are the same except for the mounting brackets/sliders. Thanks for the closeup pics Bob, lucky for me, I'm not that tall ![]() |

There's a pic somewhere on this site of a 80's SC or 3.2 targa with those GT3 seats in it. HOT.

boba,
Yes, that IS the seat that I want to use. I like your installation especially since it looks like it will maximize head room. But I prefer not to cut into my car. Hopefully I can find some adapters so that I can use the factory mounting points.

Seats installed with no clearance problems. New sliders and brackets were required. ![]() ![]() ![]() regards, Phil

Thanks Hardi.
Not to hijack this thread but these are great on the track. Contibuted to my almost 4 sec improvement at Wakefield. I found them not as comfortable as the stock ones for long distance though and got a bit uncomfortable after a few hours. Phil

Phil,
If you don't mind me asking, where did you get the brackets and sliders? The brackets you're using have quite a bit more adjustement than others I've seen. Thanks. |

I didn't source them myself.
I'll try and find out what brand they are but don't forget we're way down under here so may be local......

Thanks for the post. I have the same source question as SoCal70RSR. I did not get your e-mail; my inexpensive e-mail provider probably would not accept it because of the size of the picture files. Also, how DO you guys manage to get anywhere with those right hand drive cars?!? Everything is in the wrong place accept for the relative pedal locations... Just kidding! I'm a left hander so I'd probably be a better shifter if I were living on your continent.
