Hmmm...it looks like the FP726 (Dual in Dual out) is $132. That's $30+ more than the Flowmaster in that application. I'd love to hear one too...

911 in SC 05-27-2007 01:55 PM

Where'd you find the part number or price?

@ oh Haha: Do you have any pics of the install? (Underneath) And which flo-pro are YOU using.

I guess the only reason I was using the Flowmaster is that it was a known commodity. And, since it's primary an autocross/race car, I wasn't SUPER concerned with the noise. If I had my druthers I'd run straight headers. :)

Mine is a Dynomax, but the dimensions are pretty much identical to the Flowmaster.

Thanks folks. What I'm really looking for are shots from underneath the car so I can show someone that needs to fabricate/weld it how it's been done. The awesome shots of the rear ends are great, but I can't really use those to demonstrate how it needs to be welded up.
Thanks!

ninelevenick 05-28-2007 12:08 AM

Use the search function. I found several detailed photos of Flowmaster type mufflers and pipes welded to them. I gave the photos to a welder and he fabricated the set-up beautifully. Type in "Flowmaster." Hope this helps.

Mine sounds like music and goes like stink. No resonance but it is LOUD, too loud for the street really but thats a combination of headers and a huge, open intake.

Go to youtube and search on "Porsche warm-up music" to hear it idle and blip the throttle. Search on "Mowing the Wakefield Lawn" to hear it go by open throttle before an....excursion...

you were running one of our mufflers with a by pass before. if you would have used a hi flow cat in place of the bypass you would have been in perfect territary here is how it lays out quietest to loudest

stock set up

aftermarket direct bolt ons

aftermarket weld ups like the flowmaster setup. again sound awesome but considerable louder then the aftermarket bolts on stock setup..

I guess V8 ranch what I am trying to say is that if you did not like what you had before will not like the path you are going.. I have been there done that..

rennch 05-28-2007 06:58 AM

@ JohnJL: Now THAT's what i'm talking about. What model muffler are you using with that? Just for grins, have you tried doing the "soup can" approach to one of your outlets for driving around town? Thanks for the great pics.

PS...your car looks really clean!

Jack Olsen 05-28-2007 12:29 PM

Whatever high temp paint I last used is letting me down, but here are some pictures I took this morning of my Flowmaster installation. You can see that with mine, the outlets come from above, which allows the pipes to look more traditional (to my eyes, at least) as they exit from the bumper cut-outs.

I have B&B headers, but a single or double outlet exhaust should work in pretty much the same way.

Anyone know the radius of the 90degree bends?

JohnJL 05-28-2007 01:52 PM

Thanks emptyo. Its a flowmaster 80 i believe, 2-in, 2-out. I liked the straight-out setup. It is far from street legal so it never sees the neighborhood. With no padding, headers, that intake it is very hard to even hear a passenger.

quattrorunner 05-28-2007 02:12 PM

I like the soup can. Good stuff.

dweymer 05-28-2007 02:58 PM

What is the soup can for? (asks the kid from the short bus)

rennch 05-28-2007 03:11 PM

Donnie,

The soup can muffles the sound considerably, from what I understand. Jack, is that correct? Much better to drive around the street that way, no?

quattrorunner 05-28-2007 09:56 PM

I'm sure it's a joke, MM good.

Jack Olsen 05-29-2007 12:28 AM

The can reduces the volume and around-town resonance (2K-3K) you get with some 2-out setups.
