Which headers for an 89 3.2?

I just bought the car and am setting her up for the track. I had hoped the SSI's and Flowmaster off my 78 SC 3.0L would fit but apparently not so i'm starting the search.

Appreciate any input, obviously I already know about SSI's and Pelican sells them.. Just wonder if any pure headers offer up a good power gain..

Why don't the SSI off the 82 fit? They are thick flange as well, right
?

They are off a 78 SC, the 82 is a 930.. I'm just going by what Pelican lists and there are different SSI models for SC's and 3.2 Carerra's listed.

Just went to the B&B site and they list one set of headers for all 911's from late 70's to 89 so maybe my SSI's WILL fit after all...

If you don't mind deleting heat, Bursch Hedders are the best bang for the buck IMHO. I had them on a 2.7 with dual Webber's, and it made a tremendous improvement over stock exhaust...

The only difference is the flange thickness. The earlier SC had short exhaust studs and the later SC and the Carrera had longer exhaust studs. That means that the earlier SSI had thin flanges and the later ones had thick flanges to account for the difference in stud length. This is a non issue. You can either change your long exhaust studs to short ones or just add washers under the nuts, to make the earlier SSI fit your carrera. Again, the flange thickness / exhaust stud length should be the only difference!

Cheers, George

That is GREAT to hear! I just built a new custom Flowmaster 80 system onto the SSI's and it will be great to just drop them onto the 3.2, to say nothing of the $1500 savings..

Thanks!
