targa Trim,
I am currently restoring a 73 911 TE targa and i am having a real problem finding aout about the trims in particular the one that sits under the rear screen seal and attaches directly to the body,
to me it looks like chrome however when trying to locate the part i am being told by some that it should be anodised, the part number is 911-565-947-40-OEM also sould the trims on the top of the doors be anodised or chrome and also the quarter light frames, all comments welcome |

You'll see when you remove it, it is too light to be a potmetal/chrome piece. The pieces that run in the seal and below it are all bright-dip anodized aluminum. Same with the door top trim. Quarter light frames - do you mean the triangular window frames at the leading edge of the doors? Those are chrome.

The parts that attach to the body under the rear screen gasket and to top of the doors are chrome on my 73E targa.

they are chrome plated brass and NLA. Your best bet is to search for a used set on the classified and also any of the common dismantlers.

Jamie is correct all the parts you mention are chrome over brass. The same parts on a Coupe would have been anodized aluminum.

Just checked again now that I'm back - on '76 the lower trims were indeed chrome - but the trims in the seal channel are aluminum.

Ok,
As mentioned above the parts are chrome on a 73 targa. I found a set of the under the window parts on ebay and had them re-chromed. I was offered a newly done Porsche part (evidently it's not NLA under some part number....), but it's incorrect for our cars in that it has a screw down "tab" at the front portion of the trim piece, just as it exits from under the targa bar. Good luck! The nice part is that the pieces that you are looking for are not pot metal, so they rechrome nicely. E 73S targa, amongst others.

anyway now that we have that sorted we can look forward to getting the bits back and reinstalling will be back with more questions, any advise on dashtops would be welcome and if any one has passenger side door pocket i would be very interested |
