Difference Between 85 911 and 911SC?

Is there a difference? Is it something I can see? My paperwork describes it both ways.

Vehicle is a 85 Cabrio turbo-look.

Thanks for your help.

Several differences. The SC was built 78-83. The Carrera 84-89. Many new features. SC 3.0 L engine with CIS. The Carrera with 3.2 L and a brand new ECU called Motronic controlling ignition and fuel.

From the outside they will look very much alike with a quick glance. The fog lights were incorporated more flush in the front spoiler for the Carrera. The radio antenna was incorporated in the windshield 85. The steering wheel changed to four spoke etc.

Look at the VIN number stamped inside the door jamb and under the front hood. It will tell you the details of your particular car including options.

There are several threads and a lot of websites on the particular differences.

Very Welcome to the forum!

big difference.... totally different engine (in 911 terms) SC: 3.0 Carrera: 3.2! 85 had electronic motronic engine control while SC's (78-83) had CIS which is decidedly not electronic.

Bodies were essentially unchanged, though. See below posts for good engine shots which detail the different looks of the FI. Scroll down to see engine bay pics:

Lost and lots of heated discussion on which is better/faster ;)

Best regards,
